Elements of Theology: On Forms, Gods and Participation

In this class, we discuss propositions 23 and 24 of the Elements of Theology and Proclus' theory of participation more generally. We go into the basic reasons for postulating forms and how Proclus replies to objections from conceptualist and Aristotelian perspectives. I develop how Eidos in Proclus is actually more than form, but rather the principle of a universal, systematic phenomenon. In a digression, we even go all the way up to the gods and the way that Proclus grounds the Forms in the gods.
